My Roasting Promise

Before any coffee reaches your bag, it goes through a journey in my roaster. I test-roast each lot, study the roasting curves, and cup the results to understand every nuance. If it earns my seal of approval, I tweak and lock in the profile so you get exactly what I’ve been tasting.

I roast the coffees I love to drink, and I hope you’ll love them too.

About What's Bean Grinding

Life’s too short for bad coffee...
I roast limited runs of standout coffees, always changing, always an adventure, from my little roastery in the Scottish Highlands.

My Story

What’s Bean Grinding began with a simple idea: chase the best flavour you can find, then share it. After a roasting session with David Jameson, a hobby snowballed into a micro-roastery where the goal is the same as day one: brew better, and keep exploring.

I am based in the remote Highlands of Scotland, roasting on electric equipment powered by a 100% renewable tariff, with solar being installed soon. I’m the worst kind of coffee buyer in the best possible way, always hunting something new and avoiding the same bag twice. That’s why I run limited lots and change coffees regularly, so there’s always something fresh to discover.

Every release is chosen on its individual merits, processing, traceable sourcing, or cup character. I roast intentionally, and provide the details that matter: origin, process, variety, altitude, and tasting notes - so you can geek out like me!
