Quantity

A gentle-bodied village lot from PNG’s Waghi Valley. Mild acidity with sweet, fruity notes reminiscent of rhubarb crumble and vanilla custard. Washed Typica from smallholder farms; smooth, comforting and great as a slightly darker roast so great for pairing as espresso in milk alternative based drinks.

Why you’ll love it

  • Village lot from PNG smallholders
  • Rhubarb-crumble sweetness, gentle body
  • Community livelihood
Story

“Y Grade” historically grouped PNG smallholder coffees for export. This Waghi Valley village lot reflects that heritage, community-grown Arabica brought to market with the help of exporters like Kongo Coffee, capturing PNG’s classic fruity-earthy character.

Process

Washed process from village micro-wet mills: selective hand-picking, flotation to remove defects, fermentation and washing, then sun-drying prior to export. The result is a clean cup with sweet fruit and a smooth, gentle body.

Sustainability & Packaging

Coffee is PNG’s most valuable agricultural export, supporting over 400,000 people. In the Waghi Valley, smallholder families cultivate Typica and deliver parchment to local mills, sustaining rural incomes while keeping coffee at the heart of community life.
