Story

This coffee comes from Kitale in Kenya’s North Rift region, produced by the network of farmers working with Lot 20 Coffee.

Founded in 2019 by Sidney Kibet, Lot 20 began as a small initiative focused on connecting farmers directly with quality-focused buyers. Since then, it has grown into a collaborative network spanning several counties across Kenya.

The organisation focuses on transparency and community support. Farmers are paid premium prices for their cherries and receive agronomy training, seedlings and financial literacy support. By keeping processing and value creation close to where the coffee is grown, Lot 20 helps farmers build more sustainable and profitable livelihoods.

The result is distinctive coffees like this natural lot from Kitale -bright, sweet and full of character.

Process

Natural (Dry Process)

  • Ripe cherries hand-picked at peak maturity
  • Whole cherries dried slowly with the fruit intact
  • Careful turning during drying to ensure even fermentation
  • Milling and grading once moisture levels are stabilised

Natural processing allows fruit sugars to infuse the beans, producing vibrant berry notes and a juicy texture.

Sustainability & Packaging

Lot 20 Coffee works with smallholder farmers across multiple counties in Kenya, supporting producers with seedlings, agronomy training and premium cherry prices. By keeping processing facilities close to farming communities, they aim to strengthen local economies while encouraging knowledge sharing between generations of coffee growers.
