Midnight Flyer earned its name during Agri Evolve’s first attempt at producing a washed coffee. Natural processing was the established approach in the region, so the new method was already a significant undertaking. Then the trucks carrying the cherries were delayed.

With the risk of over-fermentation increasing, the drivers set off in the middle of the night, taking the cherries down a rain-soaked mud road to reach the washing station in time. They made it, and the coffee survived the journey. The name has remained ever since.

Agri Evolve began in 2016 as a collection point for dried coffee and ripe cherries, built around reliable payment to farmers. It has since developed into a substantial processing operation at Nyabirongo, working with around 2,000 smallholders across Kasese District. Midnight Flyer is a reminder of that journey, from an ambitious first washed lot to a coffee that has become a regular part of the Rwenzori offering.

Midnight Flyer is a washed coffee processed by Agri Evolve in the Rwenzori Mountains. The supplier describes the development of its washing and processing facilities, including washer separators, mechanical dryers, hulling machines and greenhouses, but does not provide a detailed fermentation or drying protocol for this particular lot.

Agri Evolve works with around 2,000 smallholder farmers across Kasese District. Since establishing its first collection point in 2016, it has invested in processing facilities, demonstration farms and experienced staff to improve coffee quality and support local producers.

The supplier reports that Agri Evolve plants more than 130,000 tree seedlings annually and has supplied energy-efficient stoves to over 2,400 households. It also emphasises consistent, fair and prompt payment to farmers.
