Collection: Ugandan Coffee
Uganda has a long history with coffee, sitting at the crossroads of East Africa’s growing regions. While the country is well known for volume production, its high altitude Arabica coffees are increasingly recognised for their quality and clarity.
Most speciality coffee in Uganda is grown in mountainous areas, particularly along the slopes of the Rwenzori Mountains and Mount Elgon. These regions provide cooler temperatures and fertile soils, allowing cherries to ripen slowly and develop balanced sweetness and structure.
Coffee production in Uganda is largely driven by smallholder farmers. Cherries are typically delivered to washing stations or local processing centres, where careful handling and washed processing help highlight the character of the region. Investment in processing and quality control has played a key role in raising Uganda’s profile in speciality coffee.
In the cup, Ugandan coffees often show a balance of gentle fruit, soft sweetness, and a rounded body. Expect approachable flavours with enough brightness to keep things lively, making these coffees versatile across brew methods.
If you are looking for a balanced and emerging origin that offers both familiarity and freshness, Ugandan coffee is well worth exploring.
